Meditations of the Heart (Ps. 34:4)
I sought the Lord, and He heard me, and delivered me from all my fears. (Ps 34:4)
I have a special relationship with this particular verse. Here’s the Reader’s Digest condensed version:
Almost thirty years ago, Melanie was in labor with Lauren. But the labor was not progressing, and the doctor was be-coming increasingly concerned. When Lauren’s heart rate fell dramatically, the decision was made to do a C-section. Things happened very quickly, and before I knew it Mel-anie had been whisked away to the OR, leaving me alone in the room.
I sat down in a chair, randomly opened my Bible, and the first verse my eye fell upon was Psalm 34:4. Talk about God’s word speaking to you when you need it most!
While I do not believe God “mechanically” directed me to this passage, it is a testament to the relevance of His word. When worried, tempted, frustrated, confused or otherwise troubled, God’s word can ease our distress and guide us to a better place. He longs to help us, but we must seek Him.
