Meditations Of The Heart (Ps. 63:1)
O God, You are my God; early will I seek You; my soul thirsts for You; my flesh longs for You in a dry and thirsty land where there is no water. (Ps 63:1)
What terms describe your desire for God on a daily basis? Hunger, or ho-hum? Adoration, or afterthought? Chances are, as most days are peaceful and routine, we cruise through life and don’t have an intensity for interaction with God.
David wrote the above psalm not in the midst of daily routine but when ousted from Jerusalem by his rebellious son, Absalom. David’s kingdom and future were up in the air. He didn’t know if he would see Jerusalem again.
One of life’s tests is to cultivate a desire for God every day. We get distracted from God in our busyness, but God grants us life each moment. God protects us from our adversary. God gives us wisdom to handle the challenges of life. God supplies our daily provisions.
Let’s not wait until we are in the midst of crisis to seek God. Daily fellowship with Him assures us of His help when trouble comes.
